Preview: Q&A Interview with Developers on Arisha

The Mabinogi Heroes development team sat down to have an interview with INVEN about the newly revealed "Arisha" coming out this week.

Courtesy of World Wide Game Watchers and "afkalmighty" we are able to have a translated version of the interview. Because this is now confirmed information we will be including validated information about Arisha in our news.

Here are the goods, confirmed from the interview:

• Vindictus is getting a new female character!
• Arisha will be released on July 23rd in Mabinogi Heroes, test server.
• She will be a dual weapon character -  like Fiona - carrying a Longblade and a Castlet (both new weapon types)
• Though she carries a Longblade,  Arisha is a Magic / Intelligence (INT) based character.  
• She was created to add stability to the Market Place in relation to demand for Intelligence (INT) based items.
• Her Castlet shoots Mana Stones and the Longblade slices
• Arisha uses an "MP" bar in addition to her health and stamina bar. Right now this is Arisha exclusive.
• Her gameplay may be difficult to master, like Spear Lann but with a  different challenge
• She was created for the Western world, and sports a more voluptuous  body type and is not based on any source character/type
• She will be able to stop time...nuff said

Whoa baby. We can't wait to see what DevCat drummed up this time.  Gamers are getting another Intelligent Diva to strut their stuff though the perils of Vindictus.

We did some digging of our own  into the meaning of "Arisha". Here is what we found:

Its origin stims from the name Irene or Arina:
>> Arisha is a Russian girl name - meaning `Peaceful`.
>> Derived from the Greek Eirēnē, which is from eirēnē (peace). The name Arisha is borne in Greek mythology by the goddess of peace, the daughter of Zeus and Themis
>> Arisha is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means one who is building something great. It is derived from the Ain-R-Sh (throne, to build).
>> Arisha can also mean Highness in Hindi
>> The lyrical Arisha is a very unique name for a baby girl. More commonly used in Russian and Hindu cultures, Arisha has that slightly exotic and feminine appeal that you may have been searching high and low for.

How do you get away with being a character in this game and having the name "peaceful"? One may never know. 

Extra Side Note: Datamining from the game is not condoned.  In this case it has ruined the official launch of a new character.  Though Nexon should have protected their IP better, each of us has an onus to do better.  The Devs put a lot of work and creativity into generating content and characters for us, sometimes its better to just not spoil the surprise.

The Dancing Blades Arrives!

Skills and Abilities

Lynn is a resilient Strength (STR) based character. She will benefit from Training Skills and Armor Proficiencies like the other characters. This is a detailed listing of all of the skills unique to her character and
prerequisites for activating and unlocking them.

 Thunderleg

- Spin your spear to deflect and avoid enemy attacks.
- The invincibility duration during the spin will increase with skill rank.
- You can use Smash attacks after dodging if you learn Iron Monkey.

 Iron Machete

- Dash and attack enemies with Iron Machete.

- You can perform additional attacks with Fishtail Pole.

 Fishtail Pole

- Fishtail Pole can be activated after Iron Machete, brutally stabbing your target.
- You can inflict Swift Assassin on powerful monsters when this attack lands.
- Press and release the Smash key at the right time to unleash a powerful attack.
- If you land this enhanced attack, then you can also use Zhen Swift Assassin, dealing an extra 30% damage.
- You can use enhanced attacks when the skill rank is at C or higher.

 XE Move [EU ONLY]

- Unleashes a quick and powerful blow towards nearby enemies.

- Consumes 20% of your maximum HP when used.

- You cannot use it when you have less than 20% of HP remaining.

- It can be used while using a different skill or being attack by enemy.

- If you press the Smash key immediately after using the XE Move, you can use a 4-hit smash.

 Active: Iron Flag

- Leap and land with a downward strike, causing an Iron Flag shockwave.
- SP cost reduced and ATT increased by 20% when Jade Fox triggers.
- If a strong enough monster has been affected by Swift Assassin, it can be detonated.
- Additional damage will be dealt depending on the number of Swift Assassins detonated.
- Restores Stamina [STA]

 Five Finger Death

- Deal powerful damage to the enemy in front of you.
- You can detonate it when the monster has been marked with Swift Assassin.
- Additional damage will be dealt depending on the number of Swift Assassins detonated and it will also recover your stamina.

  Swift Assassin

- Allows you to apply Swift Assassin to powerful monsters.
- You can apply up to 10 Swift Assassin strikes on a target.
- Swift Assassin expires after 60 seconds, but you can refresh the stack by applying new ones.
- You can detonate Swift Assassin with Five Finger Death, doing damage proportional to the number of          stacks. Detonating a stack of 10 will briefly stun your target.
- Detonate Swift Assassin to recover Stamina. Detonate a stack of 10 to fully recover Stamina.
- Zhen Swift Assassin will trigger when enhanced attacks land from bonus smash attacks.
- Deals 20% more damage than normal Swift Assassin.

  Killer Dart

- Killer Dart allows you to quickly dash forward.

- Can be used even when you're moving. The distance you dash is based on how long you charge up.

- Can use Furious Tiger when you hit enemies with your spear.

- You'll be able to apply one more Swift Assassin with bonus smash hits when you have Furious Tiger.

- You'll get Zhen Furious Tiger for linking Killer Dart and Little Rat.
- Zhen Furious Tiger allows you to apply two more Swift Assassin strikes with bonus smash hits.

- All status effects can be used once, and will disappear when triggered.

 Broken Sword

- Spins rapidly to attack nearby enemies with Broken Sword.
- You can perform additional attacks using Fishtail Pole

  Dark Cloud

- Strike your target upwards with Dark Cloud.

- Light monsters will be launched into the air, leaving them open to additional attacks.

  Drunk Mantis

- Drunk Mantis can be activated after Broken Sword to spin and slash your enemies.
- You can inflict Swift Assassin on powerful monsters when this attack lands.
- Press and release the Smash key at the right time to unleash this powerful attack.
- If you land this enhanced attack, you can also use Zhen Swift Assassin, dealing an extra 30% damage.
- You can use enhanced attacks when the skill rank is at C or higher.

 Active: Divine Spear

- Strike three times and then dash in any direction using Divine Spear.
- It will upgrade up to 3 Swift Assassin bombs to the Zhen Swift Assassin version if all hits land.
- SP cost reduced and ATT decreased by 20% when Jade Fox triggers.
- You will dash forward twice after completing your attacks while Jade Fox is active.

 Little Rat

- Little Rat allows you to attack then backstep.
- You'll get Furious Tiger when the attack lands and Wind Step when you deflect attacks.
- Furious Tiger let's you get one more Swift Assassin from bonus smash attacks.
- Wind Step lets you teleport behind a target when triggered.
- You'll get Zhen Furious Tiger for linking Little Rat and Killer Dart.
- Zhen Furious Tiger allows you to get two more Swift Assassin strikes from bonus smash attacks.
- All status effects can be used once, and will disappear when triggered.

 Flying Guillotine

- Flying Guillotine can be activated after Centipede Strike, leaping and striking downward.

- You can inflict Swift Assassin on powerful monsters when this attack lands.

- Press and release the Smash key at the right time to unleash this powerful attack.

- If executed properly,  you can also use Zhen Swift Assassin, dealing an extra 30% damage.

- You can use enhanced attacks when the skill rank is at C or higher.

 Iron Monkey

- Iron Monkey allows you to slash after dodging with Thunderleg.
- You can perform additional attacks if you learn Golden Arm.

 Active: Chambers of Death

- Strike nearby opponents in front of you with Chambers of Death.
- SP cost reduced and ATT decreased by 20% when Jade Fox triggers.

 Active: Jade Fox

- Jade Fox lets you use active skills without cooldown restrictions.
- Will trigger when SP is at 1000, causing SP to slowly drain.
- You will not recover SP from attacks while active.
- You can attack without interruption while active.
- You will lose some SP when hit, but using Thunderleg to dodge will grant invincibility.
- Some enemy special attacks will reduce your HP.
- Jade Fox will end when all your SP is gone.

 Active: Long Armed Devil

- Attack nearby opponents up to 3 times with Long Armed Devil.
- Press the Smash key twice afterwards to continue attacking.
**You can use Swift Assassin up to 3 times this way.
- Some SP will be used for each additional attack, up to 3 times.
- SP cost reduced and ATT decreased by 20% when Jade Fox triggers.
- If Jade Fox is active, you can activate up to 3 Zhen Swift Assassin bombs when all of your attacks land.

 Golden Arm

- Golden Arm is a skyward slash attack that's connected with Iron Monkey.
- You can use Swift Assassin when this attack lands.

 Centipede Strike

- Jump then strike downward with Centipede Strike.

- You can perform additional attacks using Flying Guillotine.

 Active: Flying Snow

- Flying Snow is a powerful skill that hits enemies in a wide area.
- Can be used when the target is hit with Swift Assassin.
- Flying Snow is upgraded while Jade Fox is active.
- Targets will be briefly stunned while Jade Fox is active.
- All SP will be used in the attack, but the damage inflicted is based on the SP used while Jade Fox is active.


Zhen Swift Assassin

- Zhen Swift Assassin will trigger when enhanced attacks land from bonus smash attacks.
- Deals 20% more damage than normal Swift Assassin.

Zhen Furious Tiger

- You'll get Zhen Furious Tiger for linking Killer Dart and Little Rat.

- Zhen Furious Tiger allows you to apply two more Swift Assassin strikes with bonus smash hits.

- All status effects can be used once, and will disappear when triggered.

Nexon EU Provided a teaser for Lynn with updated notes from DevCat.

Dear Mercenaries,

Today, I am going to introduce you to a new character, Lynn.

Lynn is a character who uses Battle Glaives that are longer than her. She uses a spear to attack enemies, and is a fun and energetic character joining the Vindictus Family in June 2014.

Lynn's Skills

Swift Assassin

Swift Assassin is a core skill that we planned from the very beginning.

Lynn can trigger Swift Assassin with additional smash hits, and explodes with [Five Finger Death].
We have improved this skill as a core of the battle, and more will follow.

Zen Swift Assassin

Zen Swift Assassin a skill for more intense play. It might be a little bit harder than normal skills, but when you get used to it, you will have more fun while playing Lynn. 

Flies like a butterfly and stings like a bee. 

Little Rat

We developed this skill while considering how to use [Little Rat] to dodge an enemy's attack.
With this skill, you can accumulate Swift Assassin until a dangerous moment and dodge backward to prepare for the next attack.

Killer Dart

Killer Dart is a skill that enables Lynn to dodge an attack and approach the enemy rapidly.
You can accumulate energy while moving, and it enables you to accumulate Swift Assassin rapidly after approaching the enemy.

Wind Step

When you use Little Rat and Killer Dart, you will get [Wind Step] and [Furious Tiger].
Wind Step is a Dodge Skill that takes you behind the enemy. It can be used for dodging and attacking.

Furious Tiger

Furious Tiger enables you to accumulate one more Swift Assassin at the next smash hit.

We made Lynn’s active skills pretty different from other characters.
[Jade Fox] enables Lynn to use various active skills in a row.

The core of Jade Fox is using active skills depending on the circumstance.

Her Character

Lynn is a bright-eyed girl with a small nose and charming lips.
This is simply the basic appearance of a beautiful lady, but you can customize
her appearance.
You can make your own Lynn.

Below I will tell you about the
3 looks of Lynn.

First version: "Be cute!"

Choose a cute girl with eye liner and light pink lipstick!
Plus, with the free wave hairstyle, cap, short pants, and hammer,
she can apply for a part-time job with Ferghus! Hahaha.

Choose a wholesome-looking girl with no makeup and long pigtails.

Nexon America Announces Lynn

Nexon America's Vindictus branch has confirmed that the new playable character, Lynn will pop into existence sometime this month. A teaser for her has been placed on the website confirming a June 2014 release.  Though the date is not specific, the update should occur within a week of EU's release which is slotted for June 18th.

Players were pleasantly surprised to find the Story of Lynn impeccably posted on their website. Lynn is the upcoming character being released in both Europe and North America in the middle of June '14.

2010 - Vindictus Welcomes Evie

Evie was introduced to Vindictus on October 27, 2010 as the 3rd character in our epic saga.

She was birthed to the North American servers during the Season of Witch Update 1.08.

A few weeks later she was joined by her alter ego, a blade wielding Scythe Evie, on November 2, 2010.

Scythe Evie would soon become the staple for mages in the game but Staff Evie was the original.

Meet the Mercenaries

Lann - Original Character 2010

Lann specializes in dual-wielding bladed weapons, specifically Spears and Swords. His attacks are speedy, and in the battlefield, enemies are left breathless at his seemingly non-stop whirlwind of slashes and thrusts. Because he relies on speed, Lann starts out wearing light armor. As he gets stronger, he learns how to wear heavy armor without impeding his quick movements.

Lann hails from the northwest. He left his hometown when it was destroyed by Fomors and came to Colhen to join the Crimson Blade mercenaries. He stakes his entire identity on his ability to be victorious in battle.

Fiona - Original Character 2010

Fiona is a balanced warrior who wields a Sword and a Shield. She values defense, so she uses her shield to protect herself during combat and then strikes strategically when enemies aren't expecting it. She is able to wear heavy armor from the start and later learns to wear plate armor as well. When armed with her Hammer, nothing in her path stands a chance.

Fiona comes from the south. She treasures her privacy and boasts a solemn, serious personality, so no one knows how she came to join the Crimson Blade mercenaries. She rarely speaks about her past. Even as people marvel at her combat abilities, they can't help but wonder what secrets she's hiding.

Evie - October 2010

Evie is a delicate mage relying on her Mana Shields to protect her from danger. With her staff she can charge powerful attacks from a distance and or inflict great damage from her Scythe with just a snap of her fingers.

Evie relies on her magic and alchemy abilities to support others during combat. She wields a staff and is weak when faced with enemies up close, but from a distance, she can summon powerful golems, revive allies and use ancient magic to perform devastating attacks. She starts out wearing cloth armor but, with time and effort, she can learn to wear light armor as well.

Evie comes from the east. From her demeanor, it's likely she was raised in a noble family, but no one knows for sure. When asked, Evie just smiles and changes the subject. Despite her youth, Evie is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

Karok - June 2011

Karok is a giant warrior demanding obedience from all with his battle pillar and cestus in tow.

Karok wields a colossal pillar to bludgeon his enemies into submission. As a giant, his considerable strength allows him to easily carry and throw huge objects. His massive size makes him slow, but it also grants him high defense and the ability to start with heavy armor.

Karok's pleasant and easygoing personality leads the people of Colhen to think he's from the south, though no one's sure exactly where. Some even say he's from a town of giants. Whatever you do, don't let his laidback personality deceive you, for on the battlefield, Karok is a force to reckon with.

Kai - July 2012

Kai is a swift and powerful warrior who welds a bow and cross gun. He is built for both long range and close battle. He can quickly dash to safety and is a versatile, fearless avenger in melee, arrow and gun attacks.

Little of Kai's past is known for sure, but rumor has it that his motivation to destroy the Fomors comes from the loss of a loved one. Kai is a brilliant archer driven by strong morals and a troubled past. When others would retreat, Kai rushes head-on into battle, flinging arrows with the ferocity of a madman.

Kai's athleticism allows him to zip around the battlefield, executing precise assaults and moving on before his enemies realize they're being attacked. His weapon can be adapted to any fighting situation in an instant, and his unique fighting style makes him an ideal candidate for solo & party play.

Vella - June 2013

Vell a is a swordswoman using Twin Swords or Chainblades to decimate her enemies.  She relies on well timed attacks and overwhelming speed to tear through her foes.

Little is known of this dominant mistress of the blade sent from across the seas. She spent her childhood by the ocean, but the rest of her past is veiled in mystery. She slices through enemies with twin swords, swirling and gusting like a thunderstorm to decimate anything in her path, and even the strongest mercenaries struggle to match her expertise in combat. She won't stop until every last Fomor has fallen.

Vella is a versatile character who mixes equal measures of offense and defense to deal damage and leap across the battlefield, escaping enemy attacks without a scratch. She's capable of attacking even as she retreats, and her Counter-attack skill repels damage and positions her for fast retaliation. Watch Vella fight and you might catch glimpses of a blurred shape that strikes out like lightning, littering the battlefield with fallen Fomors.

Hurk - December 2013

Hurk is a mighty warrior welding a Greatsword. He launches head first into battle counting on agression and raw strength to achieve victory. He often risks great harm to himself to ensure the total devastation of his enemies.

Hurk, may look like a handsome young adventurer, but he hides a dark secret. He's often found in the shadowy corners of inns, brooding over a mug of ale. Other warriors know to avoid him- Hurk's temper is short, and sparking it means signing your own death warrant.

When he hears the sound of steel clashing against steel, Hurk becoms a bloodthirsty berserker. With his mighty greatsword, Hurk has been known to chop enemies in half, and cut through hordes of Fomors in a heartbeat.

Lynn

Lynn is a graceful warrior who wields her spear like a brutal dance partner. Enemies can be seduced by her spear dance, however, there are sharp attacks behind her dance, and she is capable of defeating her enemies pretty easily.

Trained in the art of the spear from a young age, Lynn is a speedy and nimble fighter with a skillset that makes her adept at dodging, jumping and delivering quick, furious strikes that send monsters sprawling. She may be a princess, but Lynn has the heart of the warrior. [Read Lynns backstory]
