Review: Lynn | Lewd Meets Lethal

Lynn in Her Perfect Form

Who is Lynn?

Lynn is the newest addition to the Mercenaries and a saucy little thing. She is a princess of the Lost Kingdom and on a mission to restore her Kingdom to it's former glory (picture a less seductive Iset). After enduring numerous trials and hardships in her past she now prepares to face a plethora of new and otherwise deadly challenges.

Lynn sports a variety of smashes and counters that makes her a hybrid Sword Vella/Scythe Evie with a slight mix of Chain Vella (In my eyes).

Lynn’s repertoire consists of the usual 1-2-3-4 Smashes (I’m used to Chain Vella having only a 1-2-3 windup with no 4th smash so it’s taking a little getting used to for me.)

If you’re interested in a breakdown of each of Lynn’s skills and what they do in detail check out the full list here.

Swift Assassin [SA] / Zhen Swift Assassin

Beautiful. Stunning. Magnificent. *Insert every other positive adjective imaginable*. This move is so pleasing, both aesthetically and functionally. During my time as a Vella (more so Chain) I always found myself stamina-drained even with every possible Stamina related item/skill available (potions/r3 Stam Regen/Cold Heart/Etc). Swords have the luxury of Slashing High so they can kind of, sort of bypass the need for easy Stamina recovery. The ability to proc AT LEAST 10 stamina for a quick, last minute dodge is such a wonderful thing. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've needed just a tad bit more stamina in order to get out of harms way. The damage is almost very nice. A fully stacked, no crit detonation nets me around 20-30k damage depending on what boss I'm facing, which is a nice chunk.

~ NOTE:  I will NOT be giving exact values for her skills in my portion of the breakdown. Those numbers can be found in the aforementioned data tables once they have been posted on forums ~

Dark Cloud Dark Cloud (LR)

SA: None

Blood Lord wasn't ready for Lynns powa!I find this skill highly useless. The only time I have any success with is when juggling players in PvP. Perma juggle combo'd into a Swift Assassin detonation is such a rewarding thing to see.

Feel free to drop a line down below if you've found some magical method of using this skill to achieve maximum damage.

Iron Machete
 Iron Machete (LLR)

Fishtail Pole

      SA: Fishtail Pole

I find myself utilizing this skill along with it's Zhen counterpart (Fishtail Pole) more often than the smashes that require longer windups (Broken Sword/Centipede Strike). Lynn suffers from hitbox difficulties (at least from what I've noticed) in a sense that her attacks are very straightforward... literally.

Iron Machete basically proceeds forward and any slight horizontal movement by a boss will cause you to either miss or wind up in an unattractive position. Luckily Lynn's dodge is so forgiving what with the ability to store Wind Steps and use them when needed.

Broken Sword Broken Sword (LLLR)

Drunken Mantis

SA: Drunk Mantis

Only 360 AOE available to you. Pretty good for clearing trash mobs but it's nothing compared to Chain Vella's Bitter Gale (That thing clears everything and their mothers).  I often times only use this skill when there's some trash mobs grouped up or if I feel like I can fit it in. Once again, I don't have actual multiplier values so I don't know if that's wasted damage or the right choice. I'll be sure to make future posts on my findings if I stumble upon something.

Lynn takes on the Monark

Centipede StrikeCentipede Strike (LLLLR)

Flying Guillotine

SA: Flying Guillotine

Oh baby this move. This move always brings a much needed change to my otherwise stoic expression. Lynn propels herself midair and proceeds to booty pound the ground and if you don't or cannot Little Rat then she basically remains grounded for a little bit. For all you booty lovers out there this is the skill that pays the bills. But in all seriousness this is a very rewarding skill in my eyes and the skill I tend to use most often. The only issue I have is that in crowded raids (such as Bark) where it's difficult to see yourself, it's often hard to get the timing of Flying Guillotine right. Also this is one of two skills that can be used post Killer Dart.

Thunderleg Thunderleg (Dodge Key + Directional button)

Little Rat
 Little Rat (Dodge Key)

Hits an enemy: Furious Tiger (Upgrades next smashes Swift Assassin from 1 mark to 2 marks)

Deflects an attack: Wind Step (Double-tapping Dodge will launch you behind the enemy)

I swear this is the most enjoyable dodge in the game. You get the spammability of Glint, the damage mitigation of Cross Cut, it puts distance between you and the boss AND it allows you to reclaim said distance with the push of a button. I wasn’t even aware she had Wind Step until I played her. Now the whole “Ninja Outfitter” release makes sense.

Vindictus: Enter a World Beyond

This is Vindictus
Enter a World Beyond...

Out with the old and in with the new.
Just yesterday we were talking about how the old logo was ushered out in favor of the new logo that better suited the "darker and more depraved Vindictus"...well look at what the Vindictus NA team has been up to!

Vindi's Community Manager, Zoltar presented the world with this fresh new trailer of Vindictus.

Vindictus releases a new gameplay trailer June 23, 2014.

Coinciding with the "World Beyond" message, the trailer features a snippet of the original cinematic trailer (refreshed to fit with the theme) and quickly proceeds to the new world filled with action shots of a few of our most treacherous foes from both Season 1 and Season 2. The trailer is simply stunning and of course puts the new logo and brand out front for all to see. The apocalyptic trailer concludes reminding players that Vindictus is FREE TO PLAY.

Check it out and let us know what you think!

Review: Karok Pillar Revamp

As of May 21st 2014, the game was updated with many new features such as Hero mode raids, new events, outfitters etc. All of the patch notes can be seen here!

Kanzo's Karok holding the Gnarled Obelisk Pillar. One of the major changes in this update was Karok's Pillar revamp. The only important one if you ask me! So I wanted to create a guide to show what exactly this update changed, and hopefully shed some light on Karok.

As noted in the patch notes, Karok got a lot of passive improvements, as well as some new skills. We will start with the easy basic stuff then go on to his new skills. I would like to share my own thoughts on each new subject as well. Here we go!

Inner Sanctum Presents: Betrayal Olympic Training

Betrayal - Controlled Black Hammer
Some of you know how fun it is to play in Vindi late at night when physics just ain't right. You can go flying, the boss can be in slowmo-mode and your skills well sometimes they just aren't there.

This video was taken during and after our nightly Betrayal duo. No animals were harmed during the making of this video though we did lose a Controlled Black Hammer.

Featuring:  Kanzo - the Clash King and the Green Goddess, TrixiEEEE

Mission (we chose to accept it): Enter the lair of the Controlled Black Hammer, take him out and have a good time doing it.
There is no hacking or modding, the run was bugged like others were that night. Everything was slowed down so much of this is in real time. Enjoy and LIKE it if u do!

Olympic feats include:
  • Ring around the Evie
  • Moon Hopping
  • Cliff Hanging
  • Flying Amber
  • Skywire Floating
  • Freeze the Beast
  • Boss Crunchies
  • Air Surfing
  • Boss Toss

    ISG Presents: Beetle Smash

    ISG Presents:

     Beetle Smash

    Starring: TrixiEEEE and StrongOne
    Written by: TrixiEEEE

    Once upon a time
there was a Karok and an Evie, who took a trip
    to see a pretty castle.
They never made it, this is their story.

The Karok thought it would be a good idea to hang out with his buddy TrixiEEEE at the park
but being a man he was directionally challenged and they ended up on the Lost Road.
Their carriage got robbed, and they had to hoove it.
They turned the corner and the next thing they knew they
were in a spooky underground tunnel thingy....the SEWERS!

In the Sewers he had to protect her as they searched for their way out.
They encountered mazes, lots of pot, and poisonous waters,
and a few secret passageways too.

Thank gawd she had her pistol, she had to use 5 of them
on the beasts that dwelled there!
Right when they thought they'd found the exit, a way out,
they were attacked by a kung foo fighter!
Who would have thought a kung foo fighter would be a rat!
I mean sure, its the sewer and sure there were a ton of them back there
but this SOB was HUGE, and quick as hell!
He was mean too. Amp'd up on some sewer x or something.

    Anyway he immediately attacked TrixEEEE
(that was his way of showing her he liked her outfit! [who doesn't!?!])
    TrixiEEEE died!!!
All the phoenix feathers in the land couldn't keep her alive.

We later learned that this kung foo fighter was a HERO to the sewer subjects.
He learned his HERO lessons well and was previously undefeated
but the karok, the angered and overpowered karok....he was so MAD!!!
That Stupid Rat killed his Trix, stepped on his shoes, AND ruined lunch!

He tossed his pillar upside the fighters head!!!
The Fighter [Garway] stumbled and appeared to say "WTH"!?,
he looked around, arched his back/tail and was like "OMG u lil mutha fucka!"
    and thats when this happened...

    Meet the Characters

    Meet the Mercenaries

"We’ve heard the old tales of a promise land and the songs of what’s to come. But the truth is, our goddess must be mad. She promised us paradise, we exist in hell. But we’re given a choice, a way out...”

The way out is through brutally elegant gameplay brought to you by DevCat. Meet each of the Mercenaries and find out what drives their loyalty to the Goddess and the quest for Erinn.  Each characters story reveals pieces of their lore, how they were drawn to the town of Colhen and the role they play in the fight against the Formors on the path to vengeance and vindication.

    Lann - Original Character 2010

Lann specializes in dual-wielding bladed weapons, specifically Spears and Swords. His attacks are speedy, and in the battlefield, enemies are left breathless at his seemingly non-stop whirlwind of slashes and thrusts. Because he relies on speed, Lann starts out wearing light armor. As he gets stronger, he learns how to wear heavy armor without impeding his quick movements.

Lann hails from the northwest. He left his hometown when it was destroyed by Fomors and came to Colhen to join the Crimson Blade mercenaries. He stakes his entire identity on his ability to be victorious in battle.

    Fiona - Original Character 2010

Fiona is a balanced warrior who wields a Sword and a Shield. She values defense, so she uses her shield to protect herself during combat and then strikes strategically when enemies aren't expecting it. She is able to wear heavy armor from the start and later learns to wear plate armor as well. When armed with her Hammer, nothing in her path stands a chance.

Fiona comes from the south. She treasures her privacy and boasts a solemn, serious personality, so no one knows how she came to join the Crimson Blade mercenaries. She rarely speaks about her past. Even as people marvel at her combat abilities, they can't help but wonder what secrets she's hiding.

    Evie - October 2010

Evie is a delicate mage relying on her Mana Shields to protect her from danger. With her staff she can charge powerful attacks from a distance and or inflict great damage from her Scythe with just a snap of her fingers.

Evie relies on her magic and alchemy abilities to support others during combat. She wields a staff and is weak when faced with enemies up close, but from a distance, she can summon powerful golems, revive allies and use ancient magic to perform devastating attacks. She starts out wearing cloth armor but, with time and effort, she can learn to wear light armor as well.

Evie comes from the east. From her demeanor, it's likely she was raised in a noble family, but no one knows for sure. When asked, Evie just smiles and changes the subject. Despite her youth, Evie is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

    Karok - June 2011

Karok is a giant warrior demanding obedience from all with his battle pillar and cestus in tow.

Karok wields a colossal pillar to bludgeon his enemies into submission. As a giant, his considerable strength allows him to easily carry and throw huge objects. His massive size makes him slow, but it also grants him high defense and the ability to start with heavy armor.

Karok's pleasant and easygoing personality leads the people of Colhen to think he's from the south, though no one's sure exactly where. Some even say he's from a town of giants. Whatever you do, don't let his laidback personality deceive you, for on the battlefield, Karok is a force to reckon with.

    Kai - July 2012

Kai is a swift and powerful warrior who welds a bow and cross gun. He is built for both long range and close battle. He can quickly dash to safety and is a versatile, fearless avenger in melee, arrow and gun attacks.

Little of Kai's past is known for sure, but rumor has it that his motivation to destroy the Fomors comes from the loss of a loved one. Kai is a brilliant archer driven by strong morals and a troubled past. When others would retreat, Kai rushes head-on into battle, flinging arrows with the ferocity of a madman.

Kai's athleticism allows him to zip around the battlefield, executing precise assaults and moving on before his enemies realize they're being attacked. His weapon can be adapted to any fighting situation in an instant, and his unique fighting style makes him an ideal candidate for solo & party play.

    Vella - June 2013

Vell a is a swordswoman using Twin Swords or Chainblades to decimate her enemies.  She relies on well timed attacks and overwhelming speed to tear through her foes.

Little is known of this dominant mistress of the blade sent from across the seas. She spent her childhood by the ocean, but the rest of her past is veiled in mystery. She slices through enemies with twin swords, swirling and gusting like a thunderstorm to decimate anything in her path, and even the strongest mercenaries struggle to match her expertise in combat. She won't stop until every last Fomor has fallen.

Vella is a versatile character who mixes equal measures of offense and defense to deal damage and leap across the battlefield, escaping enemy attacks without a scratch. She's capable of attacking even as she retreats, and her Counter-attack skill repels damage and positions her for fast retaliation. Watch Vella fight and you might catch glimpses of a blurred shape that strikes out like lightning, littering the battlefield with fallen Fomors.

    Hurk - December 2013

Hurk is a mighty warrior welding a Greatsword. He launches head first into battle counting on agression and raw strength to achieve victory. He often risks great harm to himself to ensure the total devastation of his enemies.

Hurk, may look like a handsome young adventurer, but he hides a dark secret. He's often found in the shadowy corners of inns, brooding over a mug of ale. Other warriors know to avoid him- Hurk's temper is short, and sparking it means signing your own death warrant.

When he hears the sound of steel clashing against steel, Hurk becoms a bloodthirsty berserker. With his mighty greatsword, Hurk has been known to chop enemies in half, and cut through hordes of Fomors in a heartbeat.

    Lynn

Lynn is a graceful warrior who wields her spear like a brutal dance partner. Enemies can be seduced by her spear dance, however, there are sharp attacks behind her dance, and she is capable of defeating her enemies pretty easily.

Trained in the art of the spear from a young age, Lynn is a speedy and nimble fighter with a skillset that makes her adept at dodging, jumping and delivering quick, furious strikes that send monsters sprawling. She may be a princess, but Lynn has the heart of the warrior. [Read Lynns backstory]
